What is Problem Solving

What is Problem Solving? Does it only happen in maths?

Have you ever asked yourself what is problem solving? I think problem solving is trying to find a solution or answer to the problem. What do you think it is?

 Do you think problem solving only happens in maths? I say no because you can use problem solving in everything.

Eg: The All blacks and Australia were playing against each other Australia was winning because they had 35 points and the All blacks had 6 how much more do they need to catch up.

This is my problem solving we had 20 minutes to write about what is problem solving and is it only used in maths. After that we had to work with a critical friend and wrote a comment on each others. What I think problem solving is trying to find the solution to the problem. I say no because Problem solving is all over the world it's not just in mathsWhat do you think do you think yes or no?

New Zealands New Flag

Today my class were talking about the voting for the New Zealand flag. We did a activity called 4-3-2-1. We had 4 minutes to read and learn more information about our topic, 3 minutes to discuss which flag you want with a partner and why, 2 minutes to share your opinion again with another partner, 1 minute to share your opinion with a group of 4.

Dear Term 1 Me

You have achieved some of the goals I have set for you. You have improved in your maths & reading. This year my netbook wasn’t working and had to go get fixed and it stopped me from learning. I’ve had a great year and ready for next year. Next year I'm gonna try to be the best I can in class and try to improve more on my learning.

Simple Machine

 My group and I learnt about 5 simple machines which are Screw, Wheel and Axle, Wedge, Inclined plane and Lever. Some of the activities included using 25 words and some making a DLO. We also had to learn about a man called Genghis Khan and write a conversation about his rule on Ifaketext.

Basketball

Today we went to basketball for our second session. We did some warm ups first so then we can get pumped up. After that we learnt how to dribble the ball to dribble the ball you need to look straight and use you finger tips, We also learnt how to cup the ball in between our legs and also we did some relays we had to sprint and dribble the ball around the chair come back to your team my team won and I enjoyed basketball.

Story Swap

"Where am I?" I questioned myself. As I looked around, I felt like I was being followed. I had never seen such a strange looking house before. I slowly crept towards the house hoping I wouldn't make a sound. Words rushed through my mind asking me if I should step back or take a risk. So I made a wise decision. Suddenly out of nowhere, the door slammed shut! My whole body started trembling. Every step I took, made me more curious. I had no other choice, so I sprinted inside the mysterious building as it felt more safe than being alone outside trapped in the darkness. The lights kept switching on and off. I only took a short glance around the room. The room was blank...

This is a short recount that Sajiha and I wrote. Our task was to take turns in writing a sentence each about the picture above. This helped us with writing a proper recount which we will be doing in a few weeks.  I found this very interesting because I had never done anything like this before and it gave us a good chance to work with people we have never worked with before!

This is my speech we were doing in class and my one is about why we should celebrate culture groups at school. 

My Speech

Malo Le Lei and greetings to you all! Think about your favourite celebration. Something very close to your heart. How would you feel if it was taken away from you? You would feel pretty sad wouldn’t you? Culture groups is something that is important to me, and I want it to be celebrated every year at school!

How fun does it sound having culture groups in your school? All schools should have a day each year where they celebrate all the different cultures! Culture groups are a good thing because it gives students a chance to learn about the different cultures and find out more on their own.

Culture groups interest people to learn about their identity and they bring all these different nationalities together. This would be an amazing opportunity for students to show their culture to others or discover more about it.

Culture groups are a fun and exciting way to learn. Students will be engaged in the learning going on, and it’s a great way to make new friends. Culture groups is something we need! Don’t you agree?

They can also learn about other cultures and take that learning everywhere they go. It’s a fun way to learn, and a lot of students here would love this idea.

Imagine never having the opportunity to express your independence. We should hold practises during lunches , so it doesn’t collide with our learning time. Then at the end of the term, we can present to the school our culture.

Cross Country

Today PBS went over to Dunkirk to do cross country. This event was to chose the top 3 runners so then they could go and participate in the inter school finals. I tried my best but unfortunately I came 6th but I had a fun time there.

Independent and Dependent Clauses

This is my DLO that shows the difference between independent and dependent clauses. Independent is different to dependent because it makes sense on its own and it's a simple sentence. Dependent is different to independent because it doesn't make sense on its own, it uses AAWWUBBIS to join ideas together and is not a simple sentence.

Run,Jump and Throw

Today, we had our first session with Andy today. Run Jump Throw is mainly based on running. Andy taught us about the basic rules of sprinting, which are:

• Standing Tall
• Looking Straight Ahead
• Light Feet
• High Knees
• Cheek to cheek with arm movements

We also had a relay and a race jumping over hurdles  between each other. Andy mentioned to us to never loo at the starter as this slows us down. Mrs. Anderson also filmed us to compare us. I am looking forward to our next session next week!

Home Learning: Pay it forward.

Part of last night's home learning was to do something with or for someone else.  I chose to take out the rubbish for Dad because he wasn't feeling well. I took all the rubbish from inside the house and put it in the bin and after that It was done so I took the bins out into the front yard.

5 Minutes Of Camp 

I put the Harness on I was so excited , then when we finished we walked down the stairs and my legs were shaking and i was nervous after we got to the chairs we sat down and got told that we had to but the harness tight and make sure its locked how to do it then we all made sure that it's tight by helping each other out and showing them how to do it correctly so I helped another person after we all helped each other he said that we need 2 people to help move the rope and pull the rope so then he picked to people and they went and helped out then he asked us who wants to go first and i put my hand up and i did it .

I was the first one go up then I was shaking even more my heart was pounding but I climbed up and I just kept on thinking just go back down but the people in my group kept encouraging me then I climbed up and got to the top once I got to the top i was glad that I made when they said to don't hold on to anything and then I did and I walked up and backwards but I can't believe I walked backward without holding on to anything and then when they said to come down I was so scared because I didn't know if they could hold me or the rope can but i tried and I was safe and happy when I got down I was really happy that I went up and came back down.

Time Table

This is my 4 time table I had to try to put them in to order my fastest and it will time me to see how long I did and I got 34 the first time I played it and then I played and played and my fastest time was 22 seconds.

A sentence is a group full of words that have different subjects. There are three types of sentences, these include complex, compound and simple. A sentence needs to include a capital letter in the beginning with a full stop at the end. The purpose of a sentence is to discuss the idea or a subject of the paragraph.
